“It’s like ‘The Wonder Years’ but with Jesus,” award-winning TV writer and producer Jenji Kohan said of her new Netflix drama based (very loosely) on teenage Jesus. Brace yourselves. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the creator of the controversial hit television dramas “Weeds” and “Orange is the New Black” shared that her latest project has already “got some people nervous.” “There are all sorts of things where we cross lines — and there are crazies out there,” Kohan said. Kohan is not a Christian. She’s Jewish, and a very liberal Jew at that. Though she and her family attend temple and observe Jewish holy days, the writer has no problem focusing on issues many people of faith would find disturbing or immoral. If Kohan’s new show really is an adaptation of “The Wonder Years,” we can only imagine the sacrilegious reflections of teen Jesus in her upcoming dramedy. (READ MORE)
